13 Pieces is the 1st release from The Other Quartet.
The Other Quartet is one of the elite project to come out of the New York Downtown scene of the 90's, tied to the famed Knitting Factory.
Co-led by Tenor Saxophonist/Composer Ohad Talmor and Trumpeter/Composer Russ Johnson, the quartet is complemented by the original rhythm section of the group: Guitarist Jim Hershman and noted downtown Drummer Mike Sarin.
The group romps through a mix of originals and radical re-readings of classical contemporary.
Highly virtuoso mix of mixed meters complex writing with a free and flowing improvisation.
