about

"8 Déjà Vus" was recorded live in Luxembourg City during a European tour that took place in early 1998.

The Septet led by the 27 years old Talmor performed an innovative repertoire mixing six original compositions and a couple of arrangements of rarely heard Debussy and Schoenberg pieces.
The group was anchored by a young cast of New York based musicians who provided an inspiring counterpoint to Lee Konitz and forward thinking improvising of their own.

"8 Déjà Vu" is a rare opportunity to hear the legendary Alto Saxophonist and a new generation (at the time!) of improvisers playing Talmor's original music.
Complex writing combined with delicate sonorities; this recording featured compositions that focus on longer forms, mixed meters and unique combinations of tones in order to create an original framework for improvising.

This project offers a window into a long tenured collaboration between Lee and Ohad which resulted in 5 more albums as well as providing an early glimpse into Ohad Talmor's unique voice as a composer.
